Sally Miller Gearhart

April 15, 1931 – July 14, 2021

“I keep saying that feminism as I understand it is an ideology of possibility, not probability.”

Activist, academic, feminist, science fiction writer. The first out lesbian to obtain a tenure-track faculty position at San Francisco State University, 1973. Helped establish one of the country’s first women and gender study programs.
