THE VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT

Ruthe Wright Boyea

September 22, 1918 – December 7, 2007

“I am very proud when my granddaughters see the name Ruthe Boyea on the door of the Ruthe Boyea Women’s Center.”

Member of the U.S. Navy. Founder and director of the women’s center at Central Connecticut State College (now called the Ruthe Boyea Women’s Center), 1965. Appointed to the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, 1968. Member of the board of the Connecticut Conference of the United Church of Christ 1965 – 1972. New England Representative on the national board of the American Association of University Women, 1970 –1976. Attended U.N. Conferences on the Status of Women 1975, Mexico City; 1980, Copenhagen; 1985, Nairobi; and 1995, Beijing. President of the New Britain Chapter of the American Red Cross. President of the League of Women Voters.
