VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT: REV DEAN LEWISadmin2024-09-19T10:55:40-04:00

THE VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT

Rev. Dean H. Lewis

September 6, 1926-June 14, 2021

“Just as men are likely to see the battle as a threat to their virility or masculinity, women could mistakenly see the only route to equality as what they consider ‘masculine’ or strong and pushy. The approach requires a lot of thought. There are many men who are members of NOW. You’ll notice it’s the National Organization ‘for’ Women, not ‘of’ Women.”

Presbyterian activist, advocate and peacemaker. Charter member on the first board of the National Organization for Women (NOW).
