Mary Beth Edelson
February 6, 1933 – April 20, 2021
Artist, lecturer and author who was active in the civil rights, peace and eco-feminist movements. Organized the first Conference for Women in the Visual Arts at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., 1972. Organized a seven-week seminar on feminism for the Smithsonian, 1973. Founder of the Heresies Magazine Collective. Spearheaded a group that researched Title IX as a tool for challenging museums to provide equal representation for women in museums, 1996.
