Mary Anne Krupsak
March 26, 1932 – December 28, 2024
“The seriousness of the obligations of the office of governor requires a leader to be accessible to fulfill commitments with dedication, integrity and loyalty.”
A trailblazing figure in the fight for women’s rights. A member of both the New York State Assembly from 1969-1973, and the New York State Senate from 1973-1975. Defeated Mario Cuomo in the Democratic primary of 1974, prior to making history as the first woman ever to be nominated and elected Lieutenant Governor of New York in November of that year. Fought to save Radio City Music Hall from demolition and ensured that the iconic theatre be preserved as a National Landmark, 1978.
