Maretta Short

August 21, 1950 – December 25, 2022

“Racism is a very important issue. Some people don’t see it as a women’s issue, but it is. It always has been.”

Activist, historian, first African-American President of the National Organization for Women of New Jersey, 2007. NOW-NJ vice president, 1997. A producer and co-host of radio program Joy of Resistance. A founder of the Essex County Chapter of Women of Color and Allies.
