THE VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT

Linda Jupiter

March 26, 1944 – November 14, 2023

“We try to work with women, so they learn to have control of money instead of having money controlling them. By joining our credit union, women are making a political statement. They’re saying that they support women.” – Linda Jupiter, 1976

Advocate and activist. A founder of the Bay Area Feminist Federal Credit Union, the first feminist credit union in the U.S., 1974. A mediator for VORP (Victim Offender Reconciliation Program), a constant participant with the Grassroots Institute, a member of the Latino Coalition, the MCJC (Mendocino County Jewish Community) Justice Group, stood with Women in Black for Peace, a long-time organizer of Martin Luther King Day celebration, assisted in Anne Turner’s Citizenship and ESL classes, co-facilitated the MCJC Elders’ group on Zoom, and, with others, fought for years to keep local hospital obstetrics department open. Created Jupiter Productions.
