Life-long women’s rights activist. A pioneer for women in North Carolina’s banking industry in the 1930s and coordinated the N.C. Council of Churches’ statewide campaign to pass the Equal Rights Amendment in the early 1970s. Fought hard for the rights of women and children through the continuation of the WIC program, the federal feeding program for Women, Infants and Children. An integral part of forming Helpline, Rape Crisis and the Carteret County Domestic Violence Program.
