Sociologist, researcher, author and educator. First female sociology professor and founding director of the Center for the Study of Women in Society at the University of Oregon. Considered one of the leading analysts regarding gender and class within the second wave of feminism. B.A. Hunter College, NYC; Master’s degree in social services administration from the University of Chicago; Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Oregon.
