Hilda Howland M. Mason
June 14, 1916 – December 16, 2007

Long-time civil rights activist who was elected to the D.C. Board of Education, 1972-77 and the D.C. City Council, 1977-98 on the Statehood Party ticket. She played a key role in creating the University of the District of Columbia in the 1970s and is widely regarded as an authority on education issues.
