VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT: HARRIETTE YECKELveteranfeminists2025-06-09T16:03:14-04:00

THE VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT

Dr. Harriette Yeckel

August 24, 1922 – January 5, 2013

“Don’t let anybody tell you that anybody in this world can help themselves. Just be happy that you were fortunate enough to be born in the United States. Look up and not down, forward and not back, out not in and lend a helping hand. You can and must do no less than lend a hand in this your community, your country and your world.”

Clinical psychologist. A tireless advocate and fund-raiser on behalf of women and children around the globe. A charter member of NOW, September 1966. Vice Chairman of the Missouri Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women. Past president of Zonta International. Zonta International has worked to build a better world for women and girls for more than 100 years. Served as one of Zonta’s official delegates to the UN International Women’s Year Conference in Mexico City, Mexico, 1975.
