Gerald “Jerry” Fox

April 17, 1933 – December 23, 1988

“On the first day that women were permitted in the Oak Room during the day, I ate lunch there with my brother, Jerry Fox. Nothing unusual happened, and none of the clientele seemed aware that history was being made.” – Muriel Fox, a founder of the National Organization for Women

Pioneer feminist attorney. Member of the Board of Editors of the Yale Law School. Elected vice president of the New York Chapter of NOW, 1968. The lawyer who handled NOW’s case against New York City newspapers that ran separate help-wanted ads for men and women.
