VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT: DONNA LOPIANOadmin2022-04-22T08:02:47-04:00

THE VFA PIONEER HISTORIES PROJECT

Donna Lopiano

“Without the new generation of young people who feel strongly about making sure everybody has equal rights in every facet of life, life would be dull and very depressing.”

Dr. Donna Lopiano is the former CEO of the Women’s Sports Foundation (1992-2007) and was named one of “The 10 Most Powerful Women in Sports” by Fox Sports. She has been recognized for her leadership advocating for gender equity in sports by the IOC, the NCAA, the National Association for Girls and Women in Sports and other organizations. Dr. Lopiano has testified about Title IX and gender equity before three Congressional committees and has served as a consultant to the U.S. Office for Civil Rights Department of Health, Education and Welfare Title IX Task Force. She participated in 26 national championships in four sports and was a nine-time All-American in softball. She is a member of the National Sports Hall of Fame.
