Dr. Claire Fulcher

Professor, activist, psychotherapist and organizational consultant. Cofounder, NGO committee on Mental Health and BPW (Business and Professional Women International) Member. Dean of Women, Associate Dean of Students and Professor of Education, University of Bridgeport, 1954-1973. Director of the National YWCA Resource Center on Women, NYC, 1973. Founding convener, NGO committee on UNIFEM (now UN Women), 1988-1994. Permanent Representative, United Nations in New York, BPW International, a position which she served for almost thirty years before her retirement in 2008. Dedicated 30 years to the advancement of women’s rights and gender equality, keeping women’s issues at the forefront of the United Nations agenda. B.A. from Pomona College, 1946. M.A. from Stanford University, 1950. Ed.D. in student personnel administration, Columbia University Teachers College, 1955.
