The Hon. Carrie Meek

Educator, stateswoman and Democratic legislator, she served in the Florida House of Representatives, 1979-1982. The first African-American woman elected to the Florida Senate, 1982-1992. Served in the United States House of Representatives, 1993-2003. Instrumental in helping women in the Black community join the women’s movement for equality. Founder of the Carrie Meek Foundation.
